unique problem with snapshots, mozilla and my computer
« on: March 06, 2010, 03:21:47 PM »

Hi,

I installed the Snap Shots plugin yesterday, all was working really well, and today i've run into a unique problem.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. This morning, I decided to customize the snap shots to show the large size shots by default. And from that point on, the problem began. I can't get the snap shot window to open when I move my mouse onto the external links in my sidebar.

I have tried the following things:

1. I restarted my machine. Nothing.
2. I opened my website on 2 other computers in our household, and in both cases, the snap shots worked fine.
3. I opened Internet Explorer on my computer, and the snap shots worked.
4. I downloaded an update to Mozilla Firefox, installed it, and opened my website again. Nothing.

I'm quite puzzled by this, and don't have a clue where to begin to troubleshoot the problem. It seems the fault is limited to my computer only, and only occurs when I'm using the Mozilla Firefox browser. Any ideas?

My website is http://goldberg25.com/25reasons

Scroll down to the links in the right-hand sidebar.

Thanks,
Helene

OK I think I may have worked out what the problem is. I think I may have clicked on the options icon on one of the snap shots itself, and misread the top line where it says "Disable" and then you can select either this site only, or all sites. I think that when I changed the size of the snapshot window from small to large, I may have selected the "ALL sites" option, without realizing that I was disabling the snap shots for all sites. So, if that's what I did, how do I get it all back again? I've tried deactivating the plugin and reactivating it again, but that didn't help at all.
Thanks,
Helene

Glad to know you sorted this out.

BTW, the best place to get support for Snap Shots is from www.snap.com itself. Since, all that this plugin does is make it easier to add the code

Hi Ajay, I didn't sort it out. I just know where the problem is, but I don't know how to fix it. Can you tell me how to get the pop-ups to show again?

Try clearning your cache and cookies of the browser.

I think this should fix this.

no Ajay, that didn't help at all. Very puzzling! Still shows in IE, but not in Mozilla Firefox 3.6
I have recently upgraded to the latest Firefox version and it doesn't like the clear cache add-on, so I went into tools/clear recent history and made sure cache was selected. I don't want to clear cookies as well, unless you think I need to do that. What do you think?

You'll need to clear the cookies unfortunately

OK, against my better judgement, I cleared the cookies as well as the cache just now, and it made no difference. The snap shots are still not showing up in Mozilla Firefox on my computer.
